In the Kimberley, finding the right home isn’t just about a vacancy.
It’s about access, safety, stability, and being able to stay connected to community.
That’s why we’re proud to share a major milestone: Kimberley Care Group is the SIL provider in the first Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home in the Kimberley region, delivered in partnership with Homelander SDA Solutions Australia.
And right now, two Fully Accessible SDA rooms are available in Broome.
Why this matters (especially in regional WA)
Housing options for participants with significant accessibility needs can be limited outside metro areas.
When people have to leave their region to find suitable accommodation, it can mean losing day-to-day connection with family, Country, services, and community supports.
This new home helps create a different pathway – one that supports eligible participants to access purpose-built housing while staying in the Kimberley.
What support will look like in the home
Supported Independent Living works best when it feels steady and predictable.
In this home, overnight onsite support is provided by Kimberley Care Group, so participants have support available overnight as part of a stable service model.
Our focus is the same as always:
- consistency
- clear communication
- support that protects dignity and independence
- a home environment that feels safe and settled
- Who the vacancies may suit
Homelander are welcoming referrals for participants who:
- have Fully Accessible SDA funding in their plan, or
- may be eligible for SDA, even if it’s not yet reflected in their current plan
If you’re a Support Coordinator and you’re unsure whether a participant is the right fit, that’s okay – early conversations help, especially when housing pathways are tight.
Next steps: where to send enquiries and referrals
To review the home and submit an enquiry, visit our SDA page (we’ll direct all updates there as availability changes):

Looking ahead
Homelander has additional SDA dwellings in development, and early referrals help participants access options sooner.
For the Kimberley, this is a meaningful step forward and we’re committed to delivering support that is practical, reliable, and built for the realities of regional living.
