What is community access under the NDIS?

Community access helps people with disability participate in social activities, appointments, cultural events, recreation, and everyday life outside the home.

As part of your NDIS plan, community access supports you to build confidence, independence, and social connection while working toward your personal goals.

How to get community access support through the NDIS

Community access is funded under Core Supports – Assistance with Social, Economic & Community Participation. Participants can use this budget for a wide range of activities that help them build skills, interact with others, or stay connected to their community.
You can access this support by:

speaking with your Support Coordinator or planner

checking your Core Supports budget

identifying the community activities or goals you want to work toward

KCG can help you plan your goals, coordinate activities, and match you with the right community access support worker.

Who this support is designed for

Community access FAQs

Can community access include cultural activities or Return to Country?

Yes. If it aligns with your NDIS goals and budget, we can support cultural activities, community visits, ceremonies, and Return to Country.

Absolutely. We take time to match you with support workers who are community-minded, culturally aware, and compatible with your personality.

Community participation helps build skills and confidence, while community access focuses on engaging with your local community. Most participants benefit from a mix of both.

Not sure if we can support you?

The majority of our services are covered by NDIS funding, however we have been flexible with private supports and brokerage before. We also offer Veterans’ Affairs funding as an option.
